Better known around here as the "Gentle Giant," Hermie had what it takes to get the job done.
We purchased Hermie from a farm in closing located near Crossville, Tenn. After making the day's ride back to Hog Hill, Hermie showed us that we were gonna have to upgrade the fence if it was to keep him in.
It was several weeks before we began to trust each other and as time went on Hermie became part of the Hog Hill Heritage Family.
Hermie was six years old at the time of this photo.
Hermie now belongs to a local homesteader who to this day uses him for breeding purposes.

During the summer of 2023 we had the privilege of visiting Sam & Theresa Grant in Purcellville, VA. We purchased two gilts from them that day and Joy was one of them.
She later became known as "Big Bit" around the farm and made a great mother.
Big Bit farrowed litter #24 on July 16th, 2024.
There were 7 piglets in litter #24 of which 6 survived. Not bad for a first litter.

As was mentioned before, during the summer of 2024 we brought home two gilts from Purcellville, VA and Hope was gilt #2 that made the ride back to the Carolinas.
This spirited little gilt became the favorite of my wife and later became known as "Little Bit".
Little Bit was a celebrity at VBS. A competition between the girls and guys ended by a loser having to kiss a pig and this little pig was the one.
Little Bit farrowed litter #25 on July 19th, 2024.
Litter #25 was a litter of 3. All piglets survived and received plenty of milk.

Nestled in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina lies a great community that we call home. The community of Hog Hill.
Hog Hill Heritage was born in an effort to not only preserve the heritage of the Hog Hill community but also to preserve heritage breed swine.
In the late 1800's a hill just east of the south mountains became identified by the free range hog population and is known to this day as Hog Hill. Back in the day the back yard hog was a common site but today is hard to find. As lifetime residence of Hog Hill we thought this heritage well worth preserving and Hog Hill Heritage was born.
We believe the Creator had a plan when he put these great
creatures on earth and we want to stick with the plan.
